FAQ
Your experience begins at the Plattekloof or Durbanville Station. Durbanville Wine Safari reserves the right to make adjustments to pricing and products due to changing operating conditions and unforeseen circumstances without prior notice.
Should I book in advance, or can I purchase tickets at the departure station?
We highly recommend that you book in advance, as there is a limited number of tickets available per day.
I already have a booking, but I have additional guests who would like to join our group. However, the system says that bookings are currently full. Is it still possible for them to join us?
If you’d like to add more guests to your group, please book additional tickets online through our website. Please note that if availability is full, we won’t be able to accommodate extra guests on your departure date, as seating is allocated based on bookings and we have a maximum capacity limit for logistical reasons.
Is it possible to reschedule my departure for a different date or time?
Yes this is possible, but please note that changes to your departure date and time are subject to availability. Additionally, all change requests must be made at least 24 hours prior to your originally scheduled departure time
Can the Durbanville Wine Safari team manually reserve tickets for me?
Please note that ticket reservations require payment at the time of booking. We’re unable to hold or reserve tickets without receiving payment. An invoice can be sent, and payment can be made electronically. Funds need to reflect in our bank account before any reservation is made.

Our service runs daily, except on Mondays, and on the following dates:
- 24th December

Are all Wine Safari Tour lines suitable for children?
Yes, all current lines are suitable for children. Please note that due to spatial constraints on our Safari vehicles, we have a uniform pricing policy, where children’s tickets are priced the same as adult tickets
Will I be required to pay an entrance fee at any of the wine estates?
No, no entrance fees are required. Although, some wine estates do require a booking in advance of your arrival, which must be made directly with the wine estate. The following wine estates require pre-booking for tastings and other experiences;
- De Grendel
- Klein Roosboom
- Nitida
- Canto
If my friends and I have booked different departure times, is it possible for us to be on the same line so we can travel together?
If you’re all travelling on the same line, you can easily meet up and continue your journey together from that point on.
Where do I start my journey?
Currently the Durbanville Wine Safari has two vehicles, therefore we operate one vehicle per Line, per day. The station that you chose to start your journey from will be the station you end your journey at.
Can I join the Hop-On Hop-Off Safari from a wine estate?
No, all Lines require visitors to start their journey at a preselected station, i.e.: The Plattekloof Station or the Durbanville Station.
What is the recommended check-in time before my scheduled departure?
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time to secure your seat. If you arrive later, you’ll need to wait at the ticket office until we can arrange an alternative solution to get you on the service.
What happens if I arrive late for my scheduled departure?
We will do our utmost to accommodate you on the next available departure. If however all the other departures are fully booked, we unfortunately will not be able to assist in this case. NO REFUND will be applicable, so please don’t be late.
Can I board the tour earlier if I arrive before my scheduled departure time?
Please report to the ticketing office. If there is space on an earlier departure, our tour guide will advise you and you may join an earlier departure. If the vehicle is already fully booked for the earlier departure, unfortunately you will have to wait for your scheduled departure.
I have a young child in a pram, are prams permitted on the Safari vehicle?
Please note that prams must be collapsed during the journey due to limited space on the Safari vehicles. We recommend using a carry-on or baby seat as a convenient alternative.
How much time do I have for each wine estate stop?
This will vary, but never less than 1 hour. If you miss the next connecting bus between wine estates, you will have to wait for the next departure time. This may be up to an additional hour. Please check the schedule for your chosen line for reference. Please visit our FAQ’s for more information.
Is there parking available for my car?
Safe parking is available in the precincts immediately surrounding both Stations. Please see the parking maps here.
How do tastings work?
- If you have booked for our Wine Safari Tour, all tastings and food must be purchased directly from the wine estate you are visiting.
- If you have booked our Curated Wine Experience, Great Food and Wine Experience or any other of our experiences, please refer to your booking itinerary to confirm what is included in your selected Experience’s package.
Can I pack my own snacks, drink or picnic?
Please note that outside food and open beverages are not permitted on the tour. However, you can purchase food and drinks at the wine estates you visit.
What is the Average Cost of a Wine Tasting?
Wine tasting prices vary from R60 to R300, with Cap Classique tastings typically falling at the higher end of the scale.
Can I leave my wine purchases somewhere safe while I continue touring?
You can leave your wine purchases with our tour guides and collect them at the end of the wine safari tour, upon arriving back at your initial departure station.

- If you cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled departure time slot, unfortunately, no refund will be given.

What if it rains or the roads are not safe for travelling on the day of my booking?

In such cases, we will issue full refunds to all affected customers.
